According to legend, Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon, Burma, was built 26 centuries ago; historians say it was probably built in the 9th or 10th century CE. Whatever its age, it is the most revered temple in Burma. President Obama toured the temple on November 19, 2012. At one point he stopped to pour water over a Buddha, which is a gesture of respect.
