One of the nicer things about aging is that you no longer have to justify your life choices to the old folks. Of course, that's because you are the old folks.
When you're young, everything you do seems subject to somebody's criticism -- your clothes, your hair, your music, your friends, whatever. However, if you live long enough the time will come when you can wander about in your pajamas with a flowerpot on your head, and people will just smile at you indulgently and ask if you can remember where you live. I'm not quite there yet, but it shouldn't be long.
During the holidays a lot of us will be visiting, or visited by, relatives who may want to argue about religion. I'm afraid I have no advice to offer if you come under criticism, except to say "Yes, perhaps I will spend eternity in hell. Thank you for your concern. Please pass the potatoes." Any other advice?
